Safety
Starting Line
Vehicle
Protesting
You break it, you buy it. This includes all timing and measurement equipment owned by the
Austin Stump Jumpers clubs or equipment loaned or leased to the club.
ALL DECISIONS BY RACE OFFICIALS ARE FINAL
- Seat belts required in all classes, 4 point minimum required for E class
- Snell or DOT approved helmet, eye protection required if windshield removed
- All open and soft top vehicles must have a securely mounted roll bar, if questionable final decision will be race director or event chairperson
- No passengers allowed in any vehicle while in competition
- No loose objects in race vehicle
- Fire retardant suit required if vehicle is running alcohol
- Fire extinguisher recommended
- If vehicle has transmission brake, a minimum of 1 driveshaft safety loop per driveshaft is required
- Running vehicle may not be left unattended
- Competition vehicles must operate in a safe manner at all times in pit area, staging area, on the track, and while unloading and loading vehicle
- No driver will consume alcoholic beverages or take any drugs prior to or during the event. Obvious or excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages by pit crew prior to or during the event will be grounds for disqualification of the driver and race vehicle.
- Any infractions of fighting, drugs, alcohol, theft, unsportsmanlike conduct, or tampering with a competitor’s race vehicle will result in a suspension for the rest of the race season
- Hitch point for tow out front and rear with capability to accept a 1” diameter pin
- Driver must be of 16 years of age minimum with valid driver’s license to age of 18
- Battery must be securely fastened to vehicle. If in drivers compartment must be enclosed in marine style case or better
- Hydraulic brakes required, must be able to skid tires. Driveline brakes allowed
- Vehicle must have forward and reverse gears and be a 4wd vehicle
- Stuck or broken vehicles will be measured to center of front hub for distance
- Drivers will place vehicle in park or neutral, raise hands from steering wheel while being hooked or unhooked from pull out cable. Vehicle must remain in neutral while being pulled out
- Course boundaries will be marked by stakes or markers. Anyone hitting or passing these will be considered out of bounds and disqualified. Decision will be left to race officials
- Vehicle may enter 3 times per class, driver is allowed one run per class
- Vehicle may only place once per class
- No redraw at registration for close number between classes
- If maintenance is needed between classes, i.e. tire swap, extra time will be allowed if work is done in a timely manner. Discretion of race official
- Registration and tech is to be completed before drivers meeting as all racers are required to attend the meeting held before every race. If drivers do not attend, they cannot race.
- There will be a charge of double the entry fee for late arrivals between gate close and the start of the drivers meeting. If the meeting has begun, no racers will be allowed to enter the race. NO EXCEPTIONS
Starting Line
- Driver must be able to stage vehicle by themselves, No pit crew members allowed in staging area
- Driver is allowed 3 minutes to get vehicle to race start line after he is called upon to race
- Once staged at start line, there is a 30 second time limit to go after flag is dropped. If time is exceeded, the run will be disqualified
- The first racer to race on a fresh or reworked pit has the option to drop their first run and rerun in third in their class.
- If vehicle is shut down at launch within 25’ of start line, a one-time restage is allowed, vehicle must return to start line under its own power
Vehicle
- All vehicles must have a firewall between the motor and driver
- Allowable engine set back not to exceed the harmonic balancer beyond the front axle housing. This will be measured by a straight edge held flat on the front balancer. Exception- D, E Class
- Classes that are required to have a specific vacuum measurement will be checked randomly throughout the year, not necessarily before the race
- If you modify your tuning to meet vacuum requirements, your vehicle must race with that tuning. For example, if you adjust timing to meet the vacuum measurement you cannot return the timing back to the original setting
- There is to be no timing retard control accessible by the driver
- If vehicle is equipped with a timing control box, it may be checked at anytime during the event to ensure it is the same position as when the vehicle was inspected.
- For classes that require specific tire measurements, the tires will be measured from the ground up
- If you air down to meet a specific height, you must run at the measured height air pressure
- Tire cutting is allowed in all classes except B Class
- No forced induction allowed except for factory set up in all classes except E and F Class
- All tube chassis/rock buggies will be allowed in D, E Classes
- First race infraction- If vehicle has a minor rule infraction at the first race the vehicle attends for the year, they are to be pointed out to the driver with the stipulation that they are to be corrected before they can race again during the current year
Protesting
- A driver may protest another driver from after the time the vehicle is teched untl the class the driver is competing in is complete
- A protest must be brought forth to a race official
- A fee of $50 must be paid to the race official at the time of the protest
- If vehicle passes, $25 will go to vehicle owner and $25 to the hosting club for reteching
- If vehicle fails, $25 will go to the protestor and $25 to hosting club for reteching
- The vehicle/driver that does not pass will lose their points for the event
- If they fail more than 2 times for the same infraction, they will lose their points for the race season and will not be allowed to race in that class for the remainder of the year
- There will be no tearing down of vehicles, protesting may be comprised of infractions such as tire size and vacuum
